A very busy start to the new half term for Group 3 with lots of rehearsals for our fast approaching performance of ‘Treasure Island’. Not only drama skills have been put to the test though as we have also been singing and reading about treasure to help us really understand the story from which the play has been adapted.
Not to be outdone by current affairs, on Thursday we ran a mock election. The children were in four ‘parties’ and designed their own names and logos. They created posters to display their manifestos and talked about their ideas during assembly; these ranged from termly trips to Foxlease to hot chocolate Tuesdays and extra play times. All the children voted using specially created ballot papers and Mrs Wilkes announced the winners on Frioday. Cany Cane Gamers won by quite a big margin and all of their voters received a candy cane (other parties also gave out sweets to their voters), Matthew won the draw for the box of sweets and Ralph won a picture drawn by Alessandro.
Lots of practise for next week’s Sports Day has also taken place with many of the children reaching their highest ever jumps, so let’s just hope they can repeat their achievements on the actual day.
